Minister of Agriculture Dr. Ezzeddine Abu-Atad said that the percentage of agricultural investments out of the total investment is 3%, which is very small, pointing out that banks consider agriculture a high risk sector, and this should change to push the sector towards further growth.
During his speech at the closing conference of the “Digital Agriculture Challenge” competition held by the “Nile Pioneers” initiative at Nile University today, Abu-Atad said: “To choose the top 5 of the 130 ideas presented for winning the competition aimed at developing agriculture in Egypt through the use of technology Said that the conference will shed light on the problems of agriculture in Egypt and solve them through technology and youth support. “I take this opportunity to pay tribute to the role of the World Bank and the Central Bank of Egypt,” he said.
The Minister of Agriculture said that the ministry aims to achieve an annual agricultural growth rate of 4% within the strategy of sustainable development 2030, despite the increase in the population, pointing out that the digital solutions to agriculture significantly help to address the problems and obstacles facing the sector, and maximize the use of available resources, Egypt is pushing for self-sufficiency in food.
The initiative is the result of a strategic sponsorship agreement between the Central Bank and Nile University, the leading company in the field of entrepreneurship development, marketing and transfer of technology, innovation and competitiveness. , Directed his speech to the participants, saying: “You do not have to earn from the first time, but must learn and learn from the experiences and participate in competitions, and this is the real education.”
